Economic Development Officer, Immigration Lead

Western Regional Enterprise Network

 

The Western Regional Enterprise Network (Western REN) encompasses the Municipalities of the Districts of Argyle, Barrington, Clare, Digby and Yarmouth, the Towns of Digby and Yarmouth. The Western REN’s role is to guide and navigate regional development in Western Nova Scotia, supporting business growth in communities. The Western REN operates as a connector among economic development partners, supporting business growth and retention and providing regional leadership on economic development priorities.

Job Purpose:

  Reporting to the CEO, Western Regional Enterprise Network, the EDO Immigration Lead is focused on building awareness of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot and identifying and connecting employers looking to fill labour gaps to Nova Scotia Office of Immigration (NSOI) for the support required to become a designated employer under the Pilot.

Status:  Full-time, 24-month contract

Qualifications:

Education

• Undergraduate degree in business administration, marketing or another related discipline.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

The successful candidate will be proficient in:

• Communications and stakeholder relations

• Client management and service

• Knowledge and understanding of industry sectors in the Western region

Experience

 • Minimum five years’ professional experience in business, recruitment and/or economic development.


Working Conditions

• The Program Manager will work in both an office environment and in the field and will work a standard work week. Flexibility in working hours is required as some work will happen outside of the standard work week. Travel throughout the region will be required.

Bilingualism would be a strong asset.

The Municipality of Yarmouth has been receiving inquiries concerning employment possibilities associated with the operation of the Yarmouth Ferry Terminal.  This is the responsibility of the Ferry Terminal operator.
